I’ve been meaning to write up this blog post for the past few weeks now.
However with lots going on back home and being away at University with exams to work for, it’s been a struggle to find the time. With two exams out of the way I have a weeks break until my last exam of 1st year at Loughborough, so I wanted to take the chance to finally get this post written up!
On 16th May I travelled from Loughborough to Birmingham for my first ever Body Power Expo, I had the privilege to also be representing The Protein Lab as a sponsored athlete. I went up with two friends from back home, taking the chance to catch up even though the day ended up very busy! I got to meet the people behind The Protein Lab products, and who so kindly supply me with my supplements. I wanted to do all I could for the company throughout the day, and started by handing out leaflets with promotional offers and new products. At the same time as doing this, I could also look around the NEC, meeting some of my inspirations over the past 3 years. After we’d had photo’s taken with the likes of Steve Cook and Simeon Panda, I started handing out samples of the Pre-Workout that was on offer over the course of the weekend, with Tanya one of the other Protein Lab sponsored athletes.
I also managed to catch a couple of the competitions on stage, seeing a fellow Loughborough student competing. Seeing the athletes on stage has given me the motivation to set my next goal at competing, initially it didn’t appeal to me but I’ve been looking into companies such as MASS (Muscle and athletic sports society) who offer a student physique competition each year. I hope to work towards competing in 2017 and hope The Protein Lab will continue supporting me how they have been to help me in achieving this goal. The Body Power Expo gives anybody the chance to rub shoulders with the best in the industry, as well as picking up freebies and sampling products, it provides endless amounts of motivation.
I would personally recommend either a weekend ticket or a three day ticket, it gives you more time to meet the athletes and pick up more free samples. I will be attending for at least Saturday and Sunday, possibly the Friday as I would like to spend a whole day with The Protein Lab team, I felt a buzz on the stand and it felt like a real achievement to be there with the team.
If it’s motivation and inspiration surrounding fitness or body building that you seek.
This is the best event in the UK to attend. Once again thank you to The Protein Lab for all they do!
Keep a look out for more posts from us athletes at The Protein Lab, I will have much more spare time after this week is finished. Bring on the sun, the training, and the blogging! Keep at it guys!
